Digital Retinal Photography
In our office, we are very pleased to offer our patients the availability of Digital Retinal Photography. The practice of Retinal Photography enhances the Doctor's ability to monitor subtle changes in your eye health. A high resolution digital camera captures still images of the Eye Fundus which includes your retina, optic nerve, the central macula, and the main arteries and veins. The 4 leading causes of blindness today include Age-Related Macular Degeneration (ARMD), Diabetic Retinopathy, Glaucoma, and Cataract. Aside from Cataract changes, routine fundus images are able to capture very subtle changes in these diseases. In addition to these diseases, there are a host of other ocular and systemic disorders that can be captured using this device such as Hypertension, Retinal Detachment, and Cancer. The Vascular and Neural supply to your eyes are so immense, that any known Systemic Disorder may have impact on your overall eye health and vision.
